Ken Lawrence, State President Missouri SAR

Duties per the Missouri Society By-laws

The President is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of this Society and shall preside at all membership meetings.

The President, as Chairman of the Board of Directors, shall appoint all committees, temporary or permanent.

The President shall present to the membership at each Annual Membership Convention a report on the state of the Society.

The President or the Treasurer may sign checks or drafts of the Society and co-sign with other Officers any legal contract or agreement approved by the Board of Directors. The President may grant authority to other Officers from time to time, to enter into contracts on behalf of the Society.

The President shall be a voting member of the Budget Committee.

 Biography

Prior to his election in 2026, as the Missouri State President, Ken served the Missouri Society in various leadership roles. As an officer in Missouri Society, Ken has most recently served as Executive Vice-President in 2025. He served as MOSSAR 1st Vice-president in 2024, and as MOSSAR 2nd Vice-President in 2023. Ken’s past duties to MOSSAR include, chairing the Medals and Awards Committee for 7 years, He chaired the Flag Committee for 5 years and served as chairman of the Pershing fund for 10 years and is presently the Chairman of the Endowment funds committee.

Ken is an ac,ve member of the National Society SAR and currently serves as a member of the SAR Handbook Committee, Flag Committee, Medals and Awards Committee, The George Washington Endowment Fund Distribution Committee, as well as serving on the Color Guard Committee.

President Ken Lawrence has been an active member of the State Society’s Color Guard for the past eleven years.He was awarded the Missouri State Color Guardsman of the Year award in 2018 and was awarded the National Von Steuben Medal in 2023. Ken recently served as the Southwest District  Color Guard Commander.

Compatriot Ken Lawrence has been a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Ozark Mountain Chapter in Springfield, Missouri since 2015. As a member of the Ozark Mountain Chapter, Ken has served in the following capacities: Historian, Secretary, Vice-President, and President of the Ozark Mountain Chapter in 2019.

Professionally, Ken is a retired pharmacist and has been married to Patty Lawrence (our first lady) for 46 years. Ken and Patty are parents of two daughters, Shayne and Brooke, who have produced five grandchildren for our enjoyment.
