James D “Doug” Anderson
MOSSAR 2nd Vice President
Doug Anderson was born in Duncan, Oklahoma and graduated from Duncan High School in 1972. At the University of Oklahoma Doug graduated in 1976 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
After graduating from OU, Doug married Peggy Gillespie from Enid, OK in 1976 and moved to St. Louis to begin working for Monsanto. They have two daughters, Kristin and Lauren, and two Granddaughters.
In 1980, Doug began a career in automation and electrical engineering at Hampton-Tilley Associates in the St. Louis area for 26 years. This also included moving to Paducah, KY and Brandon, FL for several years, each time moving back to West St. Louis county. In 2006 Doug began at Camstar Systems, a software company, as a Solution Architect and Project Manager. Though the company was based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Doug was able to work from home in Wildwood, MO, when he was not traveling. Camstar was merged into Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Systems, and retired August 30, 2019.
Doug joined the Spirit of St. Louis chapter SAR in August 2020 after his first Patriot, Thomas Anderson, was approved. Since then he has added 3 supplemental Patriots and has submitted 6 additional Patriots for approval.
Immediately after joining SAR, Doug began entering the Spirit of St. Louis chapter’s past applications into the Patriot Research System. He has entered over 900 applications and Patriots into the system thus far. This was good training for Doug, as he was elected Chapter Genealogist in January 2021 to the present time. Doug serves on the National society History committee and attends the Fall and Spring Leadership conferences where he has made many friends. Doug also maintains a dual membership with the Ardmore chapter of the Oklahoma society.
Doug is active in Bonhomme Lodge #45 AF&AM, where he currently serves as Secretary.
