The William C. Corum Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) located in Liberty, MO awarded the SAR War Service Medal to Compatriot Tom Ingalls in grateful recognition for his service during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Ingalls served with the 187th Aviation Company 11th Aviation Battalion from 1968 to 1971. Pictured with Tom is his wife Victoria and chapter past-President Drew Kingery.
The War Service Medal was first authorized in 1899 for members who served in the Spanish-American War. It was subsequently authorized for members who served in World War I and World War II. Following World War II, the NSSAR authorized a generic War Service Medal with specific service periods indicated by bronze bars.
