Enter the Eagle Scout Essay Contest

This contest is at the local level sponsored by our SAR chapter.  First Place at the chapter level receives  $250, winner at the state level receives $600, and winner at the national level receives $10,000, 2nd place $6,000, 3rd place $4,000. The Essay must be on themes of the Revolutionary War era with a 500 word minimum.   Visit https://www.sar.org/arthur-m-berdena-king-eagle-scout-contest/ for the complete rules and application procedures.  Entries are for Eagle Scouts who are currently registered with an active unit and will be judged on historical accuracy, grammar, spelling, and general composition with a local deadline of 31 Dec. ​Our winner for 2023 was Jacob Williams of Doniphan High School, Scouting Unit 4069 in the Greater St. Louis Area Council.  Presentation of check and Eagle Scout Medal was made by President Bizzell at the Doniphan First United Methodist Church on Scouting Sunday, Pastor Kent Wilfong presiding.  Jacob’s winning essay is titled “The Ring that Secured America’s Freedom” which was recently published in the February 7 issue of “The Prospect News”.
