A Prayer for Service and Unity

“Almighty God, grant our SAR members Your grace and blessings in our lives and upon our service. May Your will be served by these United States, by the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, and through our combined organizations and efforts.
Amen.”

— SAR Chaplain, 2025

Shared Heritage

We are an organization of patriots, the proud descendants of those who fought for liberty and independence between 1773 and 1783. However, the nation that rose from the fires of that Revolution is defined by more than just ancestry; it is defined by the Union.

The people and the nation that resulted from the war included everyone who became part of that great experiment. It was a joining of colonies that were vastly different from one another—separated by language, law, economy, and geography.

Yet, these distinct people united. They decided to stay and form a more perfect union, bringing together those who had been patriots and those who had been loyalists. It was a difficult era, a hard time for the world and for Britain, and a time of great uncertainty.

But because of the events of that time, and the choices our forebearers made, we chose the righteous path of independence and self-governance.

Let us walk in that legacy today.
