SUMMARY:St. Charles Community College Liberty Tree Planting
DESCRIPTION:Saint Charles Chapter DAR Dedicates Liberty Trees at Two Upcoming Ceremonies \nST CHARLES\, MO – The Saint Charles Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will dedicate two Liberty Trees at ceremonies in St. Charles County September 22 and 26. The events will be held with the Fernando De Leyba Sons of the American Revolution with the assistance of the Nathan Futrell Children of the American Revolution. \nThe Liberty Tree is a symbol of the original elm tree the patriots gathered around in Boston to discuss the impending revolution.  In towns and cities across the thirteen colonies\, local patriots\, calling themselves the Sons of Liberty\, selected a large tree in their community to serve as their gathering place and a living emblem of their commitment to freedom. In 1775\, the British cut down the original tree in Boston. As part of the America 250! celebration\, DAR and SAR chapters across the country are planting or dedicating Liberty Trees. A tulip tree will be dedicated at the Cottleville location\, and a Kentucky Coffee tree\, which was planted earlier this year\, will be dedicated at the college. \nThe DAR is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation\, education and patriotism via commemorative events\, scholarships and educational initiatives\, citizenship programs\, service to veterans\, meaningful community service and more. One of the largest patriotic women’s organizations in the world\, DAR has 190\,000 members in approximately 3\,000 chapters across the country and several foreign countries. The Saint Charles Chapter started in 1909 and currently has more than 180 members. \nDAR’s America 250 program\, honoring the semiquincentennial of America in 2026\, is celebrating historic markers across the country. \nFor additional information about the Saint Charles Chapter DAR and its relevant mission\, visit www.saintcharles.mssdar.org. \nExact Location on Campus:
